Upcycled oil

Upcycling is the process of transforming by-products into new materials or products that are perceived to be of higher quality. Products with a new beginning! The translation of the word upcycling could be “improved recovery” because upcycling does not reduce the value of the waste but gives it new life. At Parodi Nutra we follow the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in fact, as reported in Goal 12, products embodying the upcycling idea contribute to SDG goals: sustainable consumption means appreciating and using natural resources holistically.

Generally speaking, while recycling means “merely” reprocessing, upcycling means creating something new from surplus. The new product is an upgrade. Food upcycling refers to the processing of food and ingredients that otherwise would not have gone to human consumption, procured and produced using verifiable supply chains, having a positive impact on the environment. The main idea behind it is to have zero waste by using all the constituent parts of raw ingredients. This is how customers, together with their end customers, can live in appreciation of nature and use its resources carefully.

Parodi Nutra, pioneer in upcycling from dried fruit seeds, has implemented a new process of producing virgin raw materials by generating alternative proteins during the lipid extraction process. Our goal is to extend the life cycle of these raw material with benefits for us and for the environment, by reducing CO2 emissions and mitigating climate change.
