Turkish hazelnut growers, middlemen and exporters have largely withdrawn from the market over the last week due to severe frost in the main production area in the weekend 29th and 30th March.

In the Malatya region (figs, apricots, apricot kernels, pine nuts, almonds, pistachios cultivations) for two nights temperatures have fallen to minus 6 degrees in many places in the northern area, probably the strongest freeze ever to hit that region. It goes without saying that the crop will be scanty and this will impact heavily on prices.
